Listen to this: “O Come O Come Emmanuel” demo for this Sunday.

I didn’t mess too much with the song. I just put it into a 6/8 feel to help it feel less like a funeral march. I recorded this using Audacity and a Logitech webcam mic (and a slightly out of tune guitar.) Special guest: Seiko the metronome.

Alternate: Hit up Ben Elkins for a version of this tune he did at Glenwood a few years ago. He laid down a nice set of jazz chords – almost a bossa vamp – and then sang the verse in a free flowing, almost rhthm-less way. On the chorus he just stopped – and let “Rejoice” ring out free and long. It was riveting and haunting. Not something you could do congregationally, but beautiful nonetheless. (And memorable – I’m remembering it maybe 5 years later…)

sounds good…what i can hear past the constant stream of Bella’s “daddy singing, daddy singing, daddy singing, daddy singing, daddy singing, etc.”
